Hope of Heaven
When you hear the word “home,” what picture comes to mind? I remember the houses I grew up in, and the houses I’ve lived in with my wife and daughter. All of those are very positive because they mean family to me. It’s about the people I love.
A good number of those people are no longer here. My Mom and one brother died when I was young. My Dad lived to be 86–a good, long life. Another brother passed on two years ago. I still have my eldest brother here.
I deeply miss those who’ve passed on, but have no despair. This is because there is another home. I’ve not been there yet, but I know that Jesus promises a final home that will last forever. I’ll see my Mom, Dad, and the rest of my immediate family, all of whom believed in Jesus.
I trust in this because I believe what the Bible teaches. I also have had pastoral and personal experiences (too lengthy to write here) that further convince me that this promise of eternal home is very real. If you trust in Jesus for eternal hope, you will have it.
I love life here and now. I believe that it will be even more wonderful when we’re all reunited.
Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? John 14:1-2
