One of the things that I truly excel at is putting things off. That means I have to fight it every day. Procrastination is a formula for frustration and failure. The primary emotion created from procrastination is anxiety.
Acting today instead of putting things off is a formula for effectiveness and for peace of mind. How much better we feel when a job hanging over our heads is completed. Doing things in a timely fashion isn’t just good practice, it can also bring peace of mind.
Timeliness isn’t just for clearing our calendars. It is a formula for being prepared. A long list of undone jobs is a burden. Keeping up to date means that we are immediately available to act on and be blessed by God’s guidance.
Scripture repeatedly notes how God plans and executes decisions today. When He calls on us to believe or act, that call is immediate, not to be put off. We are instructed to seek salvation today. We are called to serve God daily. Spend time each day in the Word of God, as well as in prayer. Be ready to act and serve the Lord at any time He may call on us. Don’t be so far behind that you can’t respond.
For I command you this day to love the Lord your God and to keep his commands, decrees, and regulations by walking in his ways. If you do this, you will live and multiply, and the Lord your God will bless you and the land you are about to enter and occupy. Deuteronomy 30:16
