Take a Break
Sometimes it is just good to take time and enjoy life’s blessings. Life seems all work and no play. We often miss celebrating what’s been done. I have found myself so frequently focused on work that I’ve missed moments of beauty and joy that I’d have experienced if I only took the time to shift my focus.
God, in his creation, has included beauty to reflect on, music to enjoy, pets to love on, and family to rejoice in. In fact, God so loves his creation that the entire last point of it was to sit back and rejoice because of it:
On the seventh day God had finished his work of creation, so he rested from all his work. And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when he rested from all his work of creation. Genesis 2:2-3
We were not created only to work and produce. The seventh day of creation became for us the Sabbath day of rest. Jews still keep the sabbath. We Christians set aside Sundays to reflect on God’s love for us revealed in Jesus Christ.
This isn’t just a church thing, though. It’s about everyday life. If God found it important enough to take time to rest and enjoy creation, it’s important that we do the same.
Take some time to refresh your body and soul. Go through photos of vacations and other times you’ve been with those you love. Take a walk with the intent of enjoying what surrounds you. All that God has made is yours to rest in and enjoy
