Read Something

All the information you need can be found in small packages, called books. I know I’m stating the obvious, but I’m frequently amused by how many of us need information but do not do the work of reading it for ourselves. Books easily supply entertainment, information, even transformation by truth.  If you read them.

There was a time in history that the only book that people had for reading was a family Bible. It is still the greatest source to spark, inform or increase our faith. Sadly, most people today don’t read their Bibles or much else. If this is true for you, it is easy to correct.

For those who have trouble reading, there are audiobooks in almost every public library. You can use a phone app like Audible to listen to books wherever you go. You can even check out those audible books from some local libraries.

I’m a cheerleader for reading broadly–in many books and over many subjects. You can be entertained, surprised, and even transformed simply by reading. Soaring far above all other books are the Scriptures. God established these words for salvation, spiritual growth, and comfort.

We’re never too old to learn, and there always more truth to learn and apply from Scripture. Set aside times, perhaps of only 15 to 20 minutes each day, so that you can grow in general knowledge and grow in faith.

Jesus said to them, “Is this not the reason you are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God?  Mark 12:24
