Pray With Confidence
by Rev. Tom Gray
I had the blessing of knowing one of my great-grandparents and, Lord willing, I’ll see some of my great-grandchildren. That’s three generations before me and three following. While that’s a long span for humans, it’s next to nothing compared to the span of known human history.
There is nothing that has happened to or through humans that our Lord doesn’t know intimately. God understands us better that we possibly can. He doesn’t just hear our prayers—He deeply understands them.
I am comforted that the One to whom I pray has seen and dealt with every single thing that can confront you or me for generations. He heard my great grandma call to Him when she was in fear during the Apache wars, and he heard me as I struggled to recover from surgery two years ago.
In the future, in heaven, we’ll join with the generations of our families and others’, rejoicing in God’s presence. We won’t have requests as much as we’ll be thrilled with what He has accomplished for us. As we pray today, we’re somewhat in the dark regarding what is happening. Then, we’ll truly rejoice in the light of His truth, His deeds.
Pray with confidence: the Lord hears you. The Lord even now is working in and through you.
“Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:3,4
