RENEWAL Devotional: “God With Us”
Written by Lydia D’Ross, Ordained Minister and Outreach Chaplain for RENEWAL at Brookhaven Hospital
Isaiah 7:14 “…the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Emmanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).”
Sometimes we don’t feel like God is with us, but He is. We have hope in God’s Word in Deuteronomy 31:8 that says, “And the LORD, he [it is] that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.”
After Moses died, Joshua felt alone and God encouraged him with these words: “There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life; as I was with Moses, [so] I will be with thee; I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” Joshua 1:5
In this month of celebration of Christ’s birth, we also remember the reason for the season. That even Jesus encouraged his disciples before departing to His heavenly father and said “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
If you’re feeling lonely or just struggling during this holiday season, remember, “God is With Us,“ and we are here for you!
