RENEWAL Devotional: Discuss Your Plans with God
Written by Lydia D’Ross, Ordained Minister and Outreach Chaplain for RENEWAL at Brookhaven Hospital
“For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth comes knowledge and understanding.” Proverbs 2:6
Sometimes we look at our past and we reflect on wrong decisions made. We may feel like we missed opportunities. I re-evaluate my personal decision-making process, and then I ask myself, “Did I talk to God about my plans?” Our plans are not necessarily His plans for us.
Solomon was just a young man, and had no prior training to become King of Israel. When crowned, he knelt before God, and prayed not for riches, fame or lavish living. Instead he prayed to God to give him the Grace for Wisdom. Solomon was granted Wisdom to reign over Israel, and saved the nation of Israel. Solomon was the wisest man ever known, and was heard about in all four corners of the earth before Jesus came.
The grace of wisdom is still available for us today. James 1:5 says to ask God, and He will liberally give us wisdom without reproach. Once we receive that wisdom, it shields us from error.
Let’s ask God for wisdom concerning our marriage, family, education, finances, ministry, children or whatever you are facing.
