RENEWAL Devotional: God Our Protector
Written by Lydia D’Ross, Ordained Minister and Outreach Chaplain for RENEWAL at Brookhaven Hospital
Psalms 91 says, “Whoever goes to the Lord for safety, whoever remains under the protection of the Almighty, 2 can say to him, “You are my defender and protector. You are my God; in you I trust.” (GNT translation)
These scriptures in Psalms 91, have been read by individuals for over thousands of years. It is a prayer of protection for our families, military, safe travel or in times of chaos in our lives. We are comforted that God protects us, and when we are struggling with fear in our own personal lives.
Psalms 91v14 says “…Because He loves me says the Lord, I will rescue him.”
During our prayer devotions, we can personalize Psalms 91 by changing the pronouns. Changing “we” to “I, me, or my”. “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.”
Psalms 91 is the strongest prayer protection we pray over our families before we walk out the door in the morning, send our kids to school and before we go to bed.
We are confident that God will answer our prayer(s), because He has promised to do so in Psalms 91v14-15.
- Because she/he has set her/his love upon Me, therefore
- I will deliver her/him;
- I will set her/him on high, because she/he has known My name.
- They [ She/He] shall call upon Me, and
- I will answer her/him;
- I will be with her/him in trouble;
- I will deliver her/him and honor her/him
- With long life I will satisfy her/him, and show her/him My salvation.”
Start reading Psalms 91 everyday and you will feel comforted to know that God’s “Protective” Angels are watching over you and your family.
