Everyone is excited about the Olympics right now.
As you can imagine the athletes from around the world experiencing strong emotions and high levels of adrenalin. Support is provided to the athletes in many ways. Peer to peer support, coaches, family and even specialized Olympic Chaplains, some of whom were former professional athletes themselves.
You can imagine the amount of discipline that these athletes have to keep pushing themselves forward.
In 1 Corinthians 9:24, Apostle Paul expressed his own views about the Olympics and compared it to inward spiritual strength, “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way as to take the prize.”
He further said, “Everyone who competes in the games trains with strict discipline. They do it for a crown that is perishable, but we do it for a crown that is imperishable.”
Let’s run our race with excellence, so we too can obtain the prize that is waiting for us in the eternal everlasting life.
