RENEWAL Devotional: Home Sweet Home
Written by Lydia D’Ross, Ordained Minister and Outreach Chaplain for RENEWAL at Brookhaven Hospital
Many of us dream of having a home with a white picket fence, a dog or cat, or both. and maybe children playing in the back yard on their swing set. If you’ve dreamed of your fantasy house, did you think about what’s really inside the home? Creating and keeping our home in a peaceful state is more important than outward appearance and interior design.
Revelation 21:3 says “..Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.”
Often times we don’t make our dwelling place, a place where God can rest with us. Sometimes our homes are chaotic, filled with relationship turmoil. God can’t intervene because we don’t let Him come to dwell among us.
We must take the time and allow God to dwell among us. We must realize that our home is our sanctuary just as much as heaven is God’s sanctuary. God lives insides of us so that we can enjoy His presence in our home sweet home.
