RENEWAL Devotional: Pursuit of The Prince of Peace
Written by Lydia D’Ross, Ordained Minister and Outreach Chaplain for RENEWAL at Brookhaven Hospital
Isaiah 9:6 says “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
This is a prophecy foretold by the Prophet Isaiah about the coming Messiah “For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Might God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.” [Mathew 1:18-25].
As you probably know, this scripture is mostly used during the season of celebration of Christ birth, but, I think, we really have not taken into account the full use of what His name means.
The mission of Christ as the Prince of Peace, has provided Himself as our Savior and the source of true peace.
Jesus Christ said: “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33)
What good news! We have peace through the relationship we have in Christ. Peace with full assurance and confidence, that “The Lord has been merciful to me, and has helped make my burdens light. He has helped me to feel great peace.”[Linda S. Reeves, “Claim the Blessings of Your Covenants,” Liahona, Nov. 2013, 120]
