RENEWAL Devotional: The Force of Prayer
Written by Lydia D’Ross, Ordained Minister and Outreach Chaplain for RENEWAL at Brookhaven Hospital
We pray for many things. The most important time for prayer is when we worry about something that we cannot control. We ask God to do His perfect will in that situation. But the best part of the force of prayer is the relief it provides when we have anxiety or stress. Prayer releases what we feel about the situation and turns it over to the creator who is all knowing. It is one of the reasons Jesus emphasized, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. [Therefore], do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27
This means we can either let things get to us or not let them get to us. It is up to us. We can let our heart be troubled, or we can prevent our heart from being troubled. It is a very important choice that we make many times throughout the day.
In God’s province and plan, He has a purpose for everything that happens. He always turns things around for our good.
