RENEWAL Devotional: From Panic to Peace

Have you ever felt an overwhelming sensation in areas of your life that have become so stressful that they’ve overtaken your thoughts and emotions? It feels like you are powerless over your circumstances. Your physical body might respond by making it difficult to sleep and you may lose your appetite.

You are not alone.

Remember, you are in control over your emotions. It is part of human nature to worry about things. Philippians 4:6 “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.” And it is hard to pray when you’re worrying about something, especially when it is overwhelming and creating a stress response in your brain and body.

But when you don’t know what to do about your situation, though it can be difficult, the best thing you can do is to pause and pray.

When you pray about your situation and you continue to pray until you feel calm. When you feel that peace or calmness, you will realize that you learned a new coping skill by putting the situation in God’s hands.

God will perfect those things that concern you!  [Psalms 138]
