RENEWAL Devotional: Are You Making Mountains Out of Molehills?
Written by Lydia D’Ross, Ordained Minister and Outreach Chaplain for RENEWAL at Brookhaven Hospital
Molehills are created in our lives when we stay on the same destructive road year after year. Molehills can turn into a mountain over time.
Whatever mountain stands in your way today, whether it is depression, anxiety, the disease of addiction or marital conflict, know that you can be successful in getting past it. It will not be because of your own strength. It will because of Christ and renewing your mind through prayer, His Word and, possibly, Christian counseling.
God will never force you to love Him, but instead, He waits for you to come to him. He gives you His strength to get through the mountains. The Israelites were moving from one molehill to the next and finally God said, “you have stayed at this mountain long enough.” (Deuteronomy 1:6 NLT) If these molehills in your life are not dealt with, it can become destructive. Getting a counselor’s perspective on what you are struggling with can also help us to view our minor problems in life as molehills rather than mountains. When we look at the entire mountain we have to climb, we quickly become overwhelmed. We need to seek God’s guidance and take it one step at a time.
If you are struggling and need help, call us. We are here for you!
