RENEWAL Devotional: Make Every Moment Count
Written by Lydia D’Ross, Ordained Minister and Outreach Chaplain for Renewal at Brookhaven Hospital
“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” Psalm 90:12
Every day is precious and sometimes we don’t make the best of our times. We count our blessings every night, then we awake to a new day. As we start our new year and forget the old, we give thanks for a good year, even though we may have walked through some hard times. As we look forward to what this New Year brings, let’s make every moment count. Let’s focus on what is important to God and make those things important to us.
Every year we should be at a place where we are growing stronger spiritually, mentally and even taking care of our physical bodies, better than we had in the past. Let’s make a list of things that we have accomplished from the previous year unto the Lord, as a prayer offering of thanksgiving. Then welcome the New Year with a new focus and family commitment to be of strong faith to overcome the challenges that may surface in the days or months ahead.
It is not a New Year’s resolution, but a commitment to God that we will serve Him even better than we did last year and love God with everything we have, which is to love Him and our neighbor more than we love ourselves. This is all God is asking us to do.
