RENEWAL Devotional: Thanksgiving Prayer
Written by Lydia D’Ross, Ordained Minister and Outreach Chaplain for Renewal at Brookhaven Hospital
Part of celebrating Native American Heritage this month, is to also recognize that Thanksgiving is for non-religious and religious households. This is a time of year where we gather together with those we love, our friends, and neighbors. We may even invite strangers into our home. We celebrate the great harvest and abundance with which our land has blessed us. We give thanks for many reasons and we send blessings to the unfortunate as well.
Psalm 100 is a common Thanksgiving prayer that includes this quote from our scripture reading today, “Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with praise.”
As you enjoy the American tradition of Thanksgiving, take time before you start your day and give thanks to the Lord, for His great mercy endures forever.
