RENEWAL Devotional: Faith and Courage
Written by Lydia D’Ross, Ordained Minister and Outreach Chaplain for Renewal at Brookhaven Hospital
Mark Twain said, “Courage is the mastery of fear, not the absence of fear.” There are other kinds of courage. There is moral courage. The difficult things we go through in life can end up shaping us in profound ways. Tough times can show us how strong we are capable of being if we look to God for our strength. You need faith and courage in the face of opposition and discouragement. Scripture says “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you …..”(Joshua 1:9).
Just like Joshua, God knew that we would go through difficult times in life, but we must do our part. God can call you to do great things as he did with Joshua. Be strong and courageous today in your walk with the Lord. Stand strong in your faith and be encouraged that our heavenly Father loves us. He will never leave us alone, even in our darkest hour.
Remember to be strong and courageous today!
