RENEWAL Devotional: Use Confession to Change Your Life’s Philosophy
Written by Lydia D’Ross, Ordained Minister and Outreach Chaplain for Renewal at Brookhaven Hospital
Confession is faith’s way of expressing itself. Faith’s confession creates reality. A person’s philosophy is created by what we hear, and see others do. We all have a set of opinions, and it is always possible to discover a person’s belief by his behavior. God gives us the the philosophy of Grace, that no matter what we do, right or wrong, He is merciful in giving us the Grace to overcome.
Man’s confession is the landmark towards good or evil.
How we fix our landmarks so that our next generation does not repeat our pattern, is to learn the true meaning of the confession of our faith.
Philosophers have learned that communication is a powerful tool, so they gather regularly and discuss their philosophy of life. God clearly tells us that “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.” [Mathew 12:34]
God wants our confession to change our philosophy on how we view things. As we do that, we can learn a new landmark within the philosophy of grace. Grace to endure struggles, and not believe in the false beliefs that our parents may have taught us.
All three- believing, thinking and saying- go togther. Confession, then, is affirming something we believe. It is showing something we know through the Word of God, and is a witness of Grace for a truth we need to embrace.
Begin to change your mindset and meditate on what kinds of philosophies you inherited that have left you landmarks that are causing problems in your life.
Begin today to confess the Word of God to change your philosophy on how you used to view things and mediate on the philosophy of Grace. You will begin to see things change in your life as you align yourself with truth-which is the Word of God.
