RENEWAL Devotional: Fullfilling Your Potential

Written by Lydia D’Ross, Ordained Minister and Outreach Chaplain for Renewal at Brookhaven Hospital

Everybody has potential, but sadly few of us actually fulfill it! No one else is able to do what God has called you to do in the special way He has called you to do it.  No matter how much talent a child may have or how great the natural abilities are, it is still only potential until the talent is pursued.

Potential needs to be developed, but sometimes things get in the way of your potential coming to fruition. Those hindrances can be emotional struggles, addiction or events in your life that keep you from moving forward. Our daily prayer to fulfill our potential is quoted in Psalm 139.13 “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts.”

We want God to examine our hearts daily, and search in us for anything that we need to deal with, so that our thoughts are aligned with His way.

When we are aligned with God, and we work with Him to resolve issues through seeking support, counseling sessions with a therapist, daily devotionals and prayer–our best days are just ahead of us!
