We discussed last week the importance of wearing the full armor of God rather than only part of it.  When we do this, it opens the door for opportunities.

Apostle Paul instructs the mature Christian that through his promises “he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man” (Ephesians 4: 15).

To strengthen our inner man, we learn to wear our armor effectively and apply the Word of God daily. The Word of God affects every level of society and serves to strengthen a nation.

In the last book of Ephesians, Apostle Paul reveals that we can be an effective solider by learning the enemy’s tactics. Apostle Paul begins saying in Ephesians 6: 10 “… be strong in the Lord…” V 11 says, put on the whole armor of God…this is a command, not an option. Apostle Paul reveals that when we put on the whole armor, we are able to stand against anything that comes our way.  We occupy areas that are uncharted. We cannot win our ground victorious without using our armor- the tools God has given to us to use daily.  We pray against those things that influence our mind, soul and spirit. We overcome those obstacles by applying the Word of God that specifically addresses those situations in order to become victorious overcomers.

The first armor of God is your helmet of salvation. For believers, it is important that you know who you are in Christ.  This is your true identity.

If you are a person of peace and a fearful situation occurs, the strategy to overcome is to put on your helmet of salvation. You are to cover and renew your mind with thoughts that agree with the Word of God.  Read His word daily, and if needed, surround yourself in support groups so you can obtain the tools you need to strengthen your mind. We fill our minds with the truth, which is the Word of God. We study the word and apply it to our situation.

In our next devotional, we will discuss the breastplate of righteousness.
