RENEWAL Devotional: Are You Geared Up?
Written by: Lydia D’Ross, Renewal Program Outreach Chaplain and ordained minister
For the next several weeks, we will study the book of Ephesians from the King James Version or Amplified Bible commentary, specifically in the study of chapter 6, starting from verses 13 through 24.
The book of Ephesians is a book that provides Christians a strategy of what to do when we deal face a crisis. For example, a plan details how to protect our families, and how to pray for our community and our leaders. We must be geared up at all times. Apostle Paul uses the Roman soldier as an analogy that you need to be protected like a soldier. You must not simply put on just one piece of the armor, but, instead, wear the armor completely and at all times. If we are not geared up, if one piece is of armor is missing, this is the place where the enemy will continuously strike.
Apostle Paul ends his letter to the people of Ephesus with “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His Might.” For the enemy is not unskilled. In the Book of Ephesians, Apostle Paul is telling us, that we can be protected from unforeseen situations if we learn to gear up!
In our next devotional, we will be learning about the different armor, that we as Christians must put on every day to defeat those things that attack us mentally, physically and emotionally.
