RENEWAL Devotional: Welcoming 2015
Written by: Lydia D’Ross, Renewal Program Outreach Chaplain and ordained minister
As we say goodbye to the year 2014 we might reflect on last year’s resolutions that we might not have really accomplished. How do we set goals for 2015 while struggling with feelings of guilt over unfulfilled resolutions of the past?
We can all identify with the Apostle Paul’s shortcomings when he inspired us with, “Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.(Philippians 3:13)
Rather than feeling guilty about our lack of accomplishments, let’s be like Paul and press forward, knowing that our loved ones, friends and family, including Christ, are cheering us on.
Start 2015 with small steps and don’t be hard on yourself if you miss the mark on your daily goal. For “God’s mercies are new every morning.” (Lamentations 3:22)
Start this new year knowing that our heavenly Father loves us and cares about the decisions we make. Share your goals with your Heavenly Father every day and He will direct your steps. (Proverbs 3:6)
