RENEWAL Devotional: When Fear Creeps In
Written by: Lydia D’Ross, Renewal Program Outreach Chaplain and ordained minister
We can be fearful of many things. Some fear the dark, flying, or life itself. Most of us are afraid of the unknown. Fears can be overcome by confronting them. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Taking this stand against fear is consistent with the Bible’s instruction to “trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding” (Prov. 3:5). We can overcome our fears when we depend on God’s understanding (Isa. 40:28) and trust in His love for us that “casts out fear” (1 John 4:18). Understanding means, that we seek answers as to why we are afraid by getting to the root of the problem.
Brookhaven Hospital’s Renewal Program can help you identify those fears and show you how to overcome them emotionally and spiritually.
