A friend recently shared a TEDx talk with me that contained beautiful images and a reminder to be grateful for all we have. With the Thanksgiving holiday around the corner, this is the time of year when we see a focus on gratefulness. Many studies have shown the significant health benefits of cultivating gratitude throughout the year. I have written about gratitude journals in the past, and have personally found this practice helpful in focusing on the positive. Journaling about what you are grateful is a simple process that can make a big impact on your life. You can do it by jotting down what you are thankful for each day. It is our tendency to zero in on the way we would like things to be rather than appreciating the way things actually are. Focusing on gratitude assists in changing our typical patterns of complaining.
