Matthew 6:22- “The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.”

As parents, it is important to know what your children are viewing on television. TV reality can affect a child or teenager’s perspective on drug and alcohol use. The following article gives some alarming statistics about underage drinking and discusses the portrayals of alcohol and drug use on TV:

“HANOVER, N.H., Jan. 13- Cocktails on the silver screen may go unnoticed by adults, but for impressionable adolescents these boozy movie scenes could increase the risk of early alcohol use, according to a study. A cross-sectional survey of 4,655 fifth-, sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders in New Hampshire and Vermont found that children were exposed to a median of 8.6 hours of alcohol use from watching movies, “a level that does not seem trivial,” said James D. Sargent, M.D., a pediatrician at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center here.”
