I Was Trapped and Couldn’t Get Out

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) can entrap a person and keep them from enjoying life. Seeking the help of a professional gives OCD sufferers the tools necessary to take back control of their lives. The following article is one girl’s story of living with OCD and finding recovery.

“I’d never felt so trapped. My obsessive compulsive disorder had taken control of my life. What should’ve been daily, five-second tasks, like turning off the faucet, evolved into repeated actions that took 10 to 20 minutes. I worried constantly about my homework and double- and triple-checked to see if I’d really finished it. I also obsessed so much about my room that people would rarely touch anything of mine. I couldn’t see an easy way out of this behavior.”
