Renewal Seminar Snapshots

When Depression Helps as Well as Hurts

Presenter: Ron Nofziger, BCC

Date: February 22, 2007

Synopsis:

There is a major difference between being sad and being depressed. Being sorrowful can be healthy in some situations while unhealthy in others. For instance, sorrow over having wounded a friend emotionally could lead to repentance, reconciliation and forgiveness. Sorrow over personal dislike or a lack of self-esteem, however, would not be healthy. During his presentation, Chaplain Nofziger discussed the differences between sorrow, depression and clinical depression.
