Synopsis:
Addictions and Compulsions can and do occur within the walls of the church. It is easy not to identify or address the needs of congregants and church visitors in this regard. Pastors need help. 12 step support groups like Overcomer's provide a Christ centered avenue by which attendees can find ongoing encouragement, resources and referrals to help address these hang-ups. Jim Barnes, publisher, and Oklahoma Overcomer's Chapter Founder, addressed the idea of addictions and compulsions within the church and how churches can establish their own Overcomer's groups.

Speaker Profile
Jim Barnes is the owner of "He Calls You by Name" publishing, a lay minister, and the founder of the 1st Overcomer’s outreach group in Oklahoma. Jim just celebrated 20 years of meeting at the same time and same location for his Christ-centered support group. In those 20 years Jim has been able to reach out to multitudes of people, not off the street, but off the pew. Jim is married to Elayne who is in retail management.
